It also includes the programs issued for the performances from 1934 as well as some unused or unclaimed prizes and trophies from 1989 to 1993.

Up to the mid 1990s, the syllabuses consisted of one volume. From 1997 onwards, the syllabus has been issued in four volumes, with performance types grouped and published together and a whole volume dedicated to the choral competition.

The Sydney Eisteddfod is an annual performing arts competition which is open to all ages but generally targeted at school children. The events are held in many venues across Sydney, including the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Conservatorium. Entrants come from all over Australia and a few from overseas to participate. Entries close in March and the competitions are held from June to September.

Originally a Welsh tradition, Australian eisteddfods are a community-based performing arts competition, with a particular focus on singing and music. They are largely targeted at schoolchildren and have an educational focus, with prizes often being scholarships to further pursue a career in the performing arts.

Excluding the years of World War II, the Sydney Eisteddfod has been held every year since 1933 and continues today under the name of the Macdonald’s Sydney Eisteddfod. An Official Syllabus is issued for competitors, as well as an Official Programme for the competition performances.
