It also includes press clippings about these activities. It includes ephemera which was created and circulated by other organisations, both within Australia and internationally, which appears to have been collected for the purpose of research into the promotion of public celebrations more generally.

The series includes ephemera relating to the following events:
- Australia’s 150th Sesquicentenary Celebrations, in localities all over New South Wales
- Annual Empire Day Observance in Martin Place, on 24 May each year
- Australia’s and Sydney’s World War II efforts
- H.M.A.S. Sydney Presentation in 1941
- The Sydney Eisteddfod
- Sydney Festival Week
- Planning for the Sydney Manufacturer’s Exhibition from 1927 - 1931, which did not eventuate
- The Opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge
- A visit to Sydney by Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester in 1934

Formats include letters, invitations, leaflets and pamphlets, event programs, and scrapbooks and folders containing news clippings, many of which are not dated or sourced.

The series includes a scrapbook assembled by Mrs Elenor Hempton (nee Whale), originally from New Zealand and the wife of a prominent printer, Stanley Hempton. Mrs Hempton was a member of the Executive of the Citizen’s of Sydney Organising Committee and a founder of the New Zealand Women’s Association. She was invited to and was present at the Official Opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and donated financially to many Australian charities. The scrapbook contains ephemera and news clippings relating to her involvement in these activities, along with studio portrait photographs. It also includes a letter of donation from Mrs Hempton’s daughter, Mabel Davies, as well as a typed list of all organisations to which Mrs Hempton donated. Due to the fragility of the item, it cannot be issued to researchers without conservation.

The Citizens of Sydney Organising Committee came together in 1931 to arrange a week of activities to commemorate the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It was reinstated as a group to organise an annual gala week immediately prior to the opening of the Royal Show, amongst other activities. The Sydney Eisteddfod grew to become the primary responsibility of the Committee.

On 7 December, 1949, the intention of the Eisteddfod to incorporate was advertised in the Sydney Morning Herald. In January 1950, the Sydney Cultural Council’s Memorandum and Articles of Association were approved by the Department of Justice and the Registrar-General. The Sydney Eisteddfod was organised by the Sydney Cultural Council until 2007, when the company was renamed the Sydney Eisteddfod.

These items have been separated from other records of the Citizen’s of Sydney Organising Committee and the Sydney Eisteddfod and sorted into a rough chronological order by Archivists.
