Unique IDAY-0058DescriptionProvision of public entertainment by the Council, for example the free organ recitals held in the Town Hall. These began as regular events in August 1890.
In November and December 1902 the Minutes of the Health and Recreation Committee recorded that Council might engage the bands affiliated to the NSW Band Association for a number of music performances in the public parks (CRS 13/1).
Other examples of 'entertainments' are events that the Council has sponsored at the amphitheatre in Martin Place since the mid 1970s, and the street theatre performances commissioned by the Council during the 2000 Olympic Games.
This activity does not include events arranged by other organisations, such as shows and concerts for which the Town Hall is hired as a venue. It does not include the Sydney New Years Eve events which have been allocated a separate Activity.CreationSubject to research
