The project is to include the provision of memorial gates, pathways, steps, a memorial tablet and fountain and the replacement of the existing standard lamps with ornamental lamps, the cost of which to be borne by public subscription and the State Government. It was suggested that a portion of the King George VI Memorial Fund be utilised for the erection of a joint memorial to King George V and King George VI in Sandringham Garden Hyde Park North.

The winners of the King George V Memorial competition were sculptor Lyndon Dadswell and architect Dr Henry Epstein. The Memorial Gates were official opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 5 February 1954 and the key used given to the City.

The proposals indicated in the accompanying drawings consist of:
1. Memorial gates in metal, showing in design, crests and heraldic motifs each king, with a pathway and steps leading from the Park Street entrance to the park.
2. A memorial tablet in stone with inscription and dedication and ornamental heraldic motifs of flora and fauna of New South Wales.
3. A memorial fountain with mosaic inlay and water play.
4. Replacement of existing lamp standards with ornamental light standards.

- Situation Plan of Hyde Park Memorial with New Entrance Memorial Gates and Fountain, by Lyndon Dadswell sculptor;
- Sketches and Ideas for Proposed Memorial to King George V and King George VI within the existing Memorial Gardens 112 Hyde Park North, Dr Henry Epstein Architect, and Lyndon Dadswell Sculptor, dated April 1953. This features coloured mosaic in fountain.
