Volume 20/2 included discussion of various lamps to be discontinued because of their proximity to publican lamps (11 April 1861); decision that the City Engineer report on the advisability of using kerosene lamps for street lighting purposes and the resulting invitation of tenders for supply and lighting of kerosene lamps (4 July 1861 & 15 August 1961); decision that the City Surveyor report upon the state of the public gas lights throughout the City and whether they are lighted at the proper time (18 July 1861); discussion of an offer from Wilson & Pitt for the supply kerosene lamps in Pyrmont, their withdrawal of this offer because of great exposure to winds in the area and the later agreement with the Gas Company to lay mains in Pyrmont (1 August 1861, 13 & 27 February 1862, 13 & 20 March 1862); discussion of the cancellation of the existing contract with the Gas Company for public lamps (31 July 1862); discussion of an offer from C.
