Unique IDA-00505555SeriesMayor's InstructionsDate12th March 1890FormatVolume - HardcoverDescriptionInstructions from Mayor Sydney Burdekin: Mayor records: 1) His reason for dispensing with the services of C W Richards, an officer in Department of City Architect, following the disturbance caused, in the Draftsmen's room of that Department, by his insulting and unwarranted behaviour towards Mr J D Pattison, a respected citizen with testimonials from W J Gaunt, Chemist; J B Barlow, Architect, to whom Mr Pattison was articled; Robt Richards, Riverstone Meat Works, Darling Harbour; Robt A Miller, 72 Clarence Street; A Ballantine, Jeweller, Princes Street; Jno Starkey, Phillip Street; and Dr Howson, Phillip Street. 2) His extreme disapproval of the offensive, unjustifiable remarks and absence of respect directed towards City Architect, Mr McRae, by City Surveyor, R W Richards, who intervened in the quarrel at the request of his brother, C W Richards; 3) His very severe censure of City Surveyor, R W Richards, for unjustifiably presuming to exercise control in another officer's Department, by sending for Mears, a Special Constable, to remove Mr Pattison from the Town Hall building - Referred to Mr McRae instructed; Copy of Minute forwarded to R W Richards and Mr PattisonLanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
