Unique IDA-00505591SeriesMayor's InstructionsDate28th February 1891FormatVolume - HardcoverDescriptionInstructions from Mayor Sydney Burdekin: A tracing of some particulars in the carrying off of Woolloomooloo storm waters, supplied by City Surveyor, do not embrace the whole subject on which I require information to guide me in forming a policy for prevention of the congestion of storm waters. Required is every particular that can be furnished in relation to the water that flows in other directions than into the Bondi Sewer eg: 1) a large scale plan of the outlets by sewer and storm water channels at Cowper Wharf, including the Government system from the Domain down Lincoln Street; 2) nature and locality of all sites where flooding takes place in heavy rains, including Gays Lane, at back of the Blind Asylum, and the bottom of Bourke Street; 3) every inlet into the present sewers and storm water drains for the area that has to be considered. This information can be furnished by pencil lines on what are known as "trig" plans, without the unnecessary expense of drawing plans. This information must be supplied without delay, as I mean to deal immediately with the problem.
