Appended: Letter from James William Pike, Victoria St near South Head Road, Darlinghurst raising three matters: 1. lack of water supply to his houses; 2. installation of a lamp near the south corner of the Gaol "for the sake of morality" and to prevent certain "transactions" taking place there; 3. damage to his houses caused by the overflow of a drain carrying water from Botany St and Bourke St; annotations by Edward Bell, City Engineer, recommending placement of the lamp; not recommending laying of a water main in the street at this time and opposing any alteration to the drainage until the formation of the street and noting that the houses were built with the existing drainage system.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
