Appended: Petition from owners of house property in Brougham St North requesting the cessation of quarrying in the street which has been carried out for the past several weeks and also requesting a lamp at the foot of the street close to the quarry: [signatories] John Curtis; Alexr McBain; Bossley Burdekin; J MacKinlay; A Howell; M Fitzpatrick; annotation by Edward Bell, City Engineer, stating that he had visited the quarry and found 2 men at work; they had assured him they would finish the cut and leave the next day; they had, however, not done so and were still at work; Bell recommends prevention of further quarrying by the filling in of the quarry using Seymour's [Inspector of Nuisances] carts and men and so effecting a link between the north and south ends of the street; he also recommends a lamp.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
