Wigram Allen, Mayor of Glebe, objecting to the stench arising from the sewer from Abercrombie Street which empties at the head of Blackwattle Swamp. He is particularly concerned by newspaper reports that suggest the Council intends to connect a further large portion of the City sewerage with Abercrombie Street. The City Engineer and the Inspector of Nuisances both advise that the intention is merely to cover the open sewer. There is no intention to add additional sewerage.
