[Note: 25/11 refer to Surveyor. This part of Devonshire St is worse than any other street of the same extent in the town. It will however cost a very heavy sum to put the roadway in even tolerable repair, and owing to the encroaching nature of the sand drift, the work will be injured almost as soon as done. A rough gutter on each side would however be very useful. It would cost, along with a few repairs to roadway £500: 2/12.
