[Note: 20/2/57 Refer to Engineer for his immediate attention. The inspector Sylvanius Abbott, who was recommended strongly by the Chief Commissioner for employment and who has since been employed as inspector of the sewers and acquitted himself most creditably having no further occupation in the sewers was sent by me yesterday to take charage of the swamp and Mr Ramsay was directed to initiate him in the duties which he did yesterday afternoon - The house is in a most delapitated state and to be habitable will require £15 or £20 to be spent upon it in addition to the labour which Abbott is able to bestow upon it. I should be glad to receive the permission of the Commissioners to direct whaat is necessary to be done to the house to the extent of the above sum:EB;14/2/57. 24/2 present wage 12/ Mr Abbott ?... to be approved.
