John Woods replying to the Council's enquiry as to whether he is prepared to continue his contract for the removal of nightsoil from the City for the year 1858 and their proposal that he should buy the carts belonging to the Council. He proposes that the Council would appoint a competent wheelwright and he will appoint another to determine the value of the carts because they are in poor condition. Referred to the City Engineer for a report. Edward Bell reports that having examined the carts he finds that they are more or less out of order.
