Rev. R. Mansfield, Secretary Australian Gas Light Company, referring to the Council's instruction of 25th August 1857 to erect fourteen public lamps. He has been instructed by the Directors to inform the Council that the positions of Gloucester and Union Streets in which five of these lamps were to be placed are found not to have been permanently levelled, and to request that the erection of the lamps therein may be deferred until the levels have been made.
