(Note: Office of the Inspector of Nuisances In reply to Mr Hart's letter of complaint dated 28th instant, I have the honor to report that on my inspecting the place referred to this morning I found it to be perfectly clean, and on a former occasion when inspected by Mr Watkins it was in a like state. The lane is merely a right of way to Mr Hart's property and four other houses - There are six houses in Wilton Street, two of which belong to Mr Hart, which by Mr Hart's permission drain into a shallow bricked reservoir in this right of way where it overflows, and this drainage discharges itself into the lane or right of way. The place itself is only twelve feet in width and does not come within the province of the Corporation to interfere with - there is no one living there to make any nuisance but his own tenants and those of the other four houses above referred to, and it should be filled up, kerbed and guttered on the south side, as at present there is no escape for the drainage, it being kept back by Wilton Street: RS; 30/5/78)LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
