C Delohery, Central Police Office. Complains of the stench from the George Street Markets, and that two of his staff have come down with typhoid. He encloses a copy of the letter written by him on the same subject on 2nd April 1885. There is a report by George Howell, Clerk of the Markets, that the typhoid was unlikely to have come from the markets, and Richard Seymour, Inspector of Nuisances visits the markets almost daily. He writes 'The only thing that wants doing is to pull down the buildings, Police Office included & to put on this valuable sight (sic) something that will be an ornament and a credit to the City.'LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
