J Stewart & Co. They write to the Mayor regarding the Centennial Hall contract. They have had difficulties in starting their contract as the work already done does not accord with the plans. There are deviations with measurements; and the thickness of the walls of the foundations are substantially less than they should be. There is a notation giving details about the thickness of the walls, and that the Mayor directs that the contractors obtain instructions regarding adjustments from the City Architect. There is an enclosure from the Geo McRae, Acting City Architect, giving details of the problems and how they will be overcome, and he suggests that they appoint a Clerk of Works.
