Lindsay Thompson, Chief Inspector of Fisheries, Department of Fisheries, Sydney. Fish are sold at the wharves and other places, where the fish are washed in water adjacent to the mouths of sewers. He suggests that sheds be built to supply fresh water. There is a report by R Seymour, Inspector of Nuisances, in which he writes that several people have been prosecuted for selling fish at the Circular Quay; the fish sold there is the refuse of the fish hawked about the City and suburbs during the day, and is not for human food.
