M Moran, Golden Grove Bakery, Raglan St, Darlington. His horse had a very serious injury this afternoon in Abercrombie Street nearly opposite St Benedicts school, through falling into a hole caused by subsidence of the street. There is a report by R W Richards, City Surveyor, that he has inspected the site and necessary repairs were being executed; the person in charge of the horse admitted that the road was apparently sound and that the hole must have been below the surface. He and George Merriman, the City Solicitor are of the opinion that the Council is not liable.
