F. Eichler MD, 44 Bridge Street, Sydney to Mr Seymour, Inspector of Nuisances, with a copy to City Health Officer complaining about the storage of putrid hides by the New Zealand Mercantile Agency at 38, 40 and 42 Bridge Street as the stench is making his family sick. Minute City Health Officer reporting on visit to wool and hide warehouses in the area advising that the storage of hides even if the premises are clean is injurious to health. Attached letter from Board of Health to Mr Eichler advising that the Board would consider at its next meeting but that the Council has control in the matter. Attached memo from Inspector of Nuisances to Town Clerk advising that only one premises Messrs Barker & Co. were curing the hides in an unsanitary manner which had been fixed on re-inspection.
