While electric lighting is not necessary for the tramway the Commissioners are however willing to make a generous offer of installing lights at a cost of £700 if the Council is prepared to contribute £250 to the £400 annual running costs. Note of City Surveyor that proposal cannot be entertained. Minute Paper attached referring to Minutes of 11/10/1898 and 30/11/1898 to Town Clerk's letters Nos. 1816 and 2129 dealing with the matter.
