I appeal to you on having received notice to quit the Corporation service. Have been nearly a year on staff of paving and past 4 months acted as ganger and had to report absence of James Lane for 2 hours absence without leave. I am a married man with a family. When he found out about the report, he offered to fight me in the street and would get me sacked. Ask for an enquiry. 2nd Letter: ask for personal interview as brutally assaulted on Saturday last by Lane while I was lawfully employed by Council. 2 labourers, James Murray and William Wilson in the same gang as me are witnesses.
