Unique IDAG-0164DescriptionThe Sydney District Business Association was established at an inaugural meeting on 8 July 1981, chaired by the Lord Mayor. The first Chairman was R D Stringer (Director of the Parks and Recreations Department). Council later resolved (RoC 28 September 1981) to provide financial support to the Association, and appears to have continued to provide support, including secretarial services.
The objectives of the Association (p3 of the Minutes of the inaugural meeting) were to develop and implement a strategy to market the central business district of Sydney so as to attract shoppers and visitors. Members attended as representatives of city business houses, and some City Council representatives (including Councillors) were also usually noted as in attendance (or providing apologies) at meetings.CreationInaugural meeting 8 July 1981 (established the Association)
