Unique IDAS-0771Start dateBetween 1st January 1990 and 1st January 1992Start date qualifiercircaFormatBinderDescriptionOn 19 February 1990, Sydney City Council approved its 1990 priority works program, including the Hyde Park Plan of Management. This series consists of records created after the approval of the 1990 Priority Projects - City Parks Project, excluding the Hyde Park Project which is treated as a separate project. As in the Hyde Park Project, this series include the pre-planning works for the Prince Alfred Park, such as study and evaluation and the public exhibition to gauge public reaction to the project. The whole programme for the study included pre-planning, survey, assessment and analysis of data, preparation of a draft report and concept Master Plan, review of submissions and preparation of a final draft report, Master Plan, briefing and submission to Council.

Steering Committees were created for each project that comprised the 1990 City Parks Priority Projects such as the Wentworth Park for the preparation of the plan of management and improvements, Belmore Park for the preparation of the plan of management, Chinatown Extensions landscaping works, Street Tree Planting in City area, Martin Place refurbishment, Dawes Point Park restoration of historic canons and surrounds, the Domain, St. Marys, Phillip and Cook Parks' plan of management, Macquarie Place Park implementation of remodelling works, monuments, statues, fountains repairs and refurbishment, Chalmers Street/Ibero-American Plaza extensions and beautification, and Street and Park Furniture replacements.

The records of these priority projects have not been transferred to the Archives, except for the survey undertaken for Victoria Park which is located at CRS 770, Records of Hyde Park Project, 1987-1992 (see Box 3, folder Usage-Hyde Park, Prince Alfred Park, and Victoria park, A94.00)

In accordance with the cross-servicing arrangement between the two Councils, the 1990 City Parks Priority Projects of the Sydney City Council, including the Prince Alfred Park Project, were coordinated, administered and implemented by CA 35, [CCSS] Parks and Properties Department, 1989+ under the direction of the City Engineer of the Sydney City Council. The Priority Works Programme for 1990 for Prince Alfred Park focused on the preparation of the Plans of Management which requires study and evaluation, including visitors use survey and public exhibitions.

In October 1993, the cross-servicing arrangement between the two Councils ceased and the responsibility for the City Parks Priority Projects reverted back to the Sydney City Council and was assigned to CA 136, City Projects, 1993+
