Left is Madame Pauline, the French & American Corset House at number 542, with ornate facade and decorative Parapet and wrought iron lace balcony on second level. A canvas blind hangs halfway on this and the shop of W. Kerr, Watchmaker & Jeweller at number 544. Workmen on second level are loading demolition materials into a horse and cart. A man and a woman with a parasol are in the right foreground and a woman with a small child, on the left, pass by decorative cast iron pole supporting wrought iron awning.
