Large curtained windows look out onto verandahs with elaborate wrought iron balconies, supported by elegant sandstone Doric pillars. Italian tiled entrance to the hotel has the name set in the pavement and overhung with an electric lamp. Next door right is Dymocks Book Arcade at number 428, with an awning and books on open display. A horse and cart awaits kerbside. Next door at number 424, an elegant awning bears the name Priddy's Hatters & Mercers, also with a shop window display.
