There is a boy without shoes on at the far left and a group of fourteen boys are sitting in a row along the footpath edge on the kerb of road. The first boy on the left is wearing a wide white collar and the third boy has a bow tie. The row of terrace houses include numbers 53 to 61 Duke Street. There is a woman walking with a child and two dogs on the street. People can be seen on each side of the street outside of the houses. In the distance are the masts of a ship in Woolloomooloo Bay. Duke Street later became McElhone Street Woolloomooloo.
