Since the Civic Commissioners took office Town Clerk Layton has been quartered in a wooden partitioned office in the left wing of City Hall, where he has been "exposed" to the advances of every Tom, Dick and Harry. He has never been comfortable in the position. But this week the Commissioners moved him back to the old "glory box", which he occupied during the golden days of aldermen. The carpets and antique furnishings are more in keeping with Mr Layton's dignity. LanguageEnglish (eng)
