Following drastic reports on the inadequacy of the Electricity Department's office acommodation, the City Council decided yesterday to transfer the department to the southern section of the Queen Victoria Markets Building. An agreement with New York financial houses from which the Civic Commissioners raised a loan of $10,000,000 (£2,000,000 at par) saved the sales department of the City Council yesterday from a decision to close it up.
