Findings: Mr Middleton was appointed Inspector of Slaughter Houses to cattle on 20 April 1844; he was instructed to supply two sureties whom he named as Messrs Rob and William Lowe and to organise their signing of the bonds which has not been done; he has failed to file his weekly returns since 31 December 1844; his returns of fees to the City Treasurer have been made irregularly; his explanations and the performance of his duties were so unsatisfactory that the Committee felt he was unfitted to the situation.
