The Committee referred to difficulties in the interpretation of the relevant Act and resolved that properties would be liable to a rate which were within 150 yards in a direct line of any Corporation lamp. The Committee investigated the receipts and expenditure relating to the provision of lighting and recommended the setting of a rate of 2d in the pound based on the premises outlined. It also recommended that council should apply to the Legislature for changes to the Corporation Act. Appended: list of property considered subject to a lighting rate; memo of City Treasurer, Lord, to the Town Clerk with a table of the value of property in each ward liable to a lighting rate.
List of properties (identified by Street and Assessment Number) for each ward situated within 150 yards in a direct line from a Corporation Lamp.
