No tenders were received for replacing and fixing them in one piece. Committee did not recommend construction of the dials as suggested by Daly Brothers. Appended: Memo from Thos Sapsford, City Building Surveyor, on the state of the existing dials and on defects in their construction and illuminating apparatus and on alterations needed; Letter from TF Wiesener, 334 George St, stating that the existing cracked dials are dangerous to the public and re-iterating his objection to the use of thin glass for the dials; Letters from Daly Brothers, 309 George St and 2 Circus Place, Finsbury Circus, London, and also of Glasgow and Dublin, representing Gillet & Bland of Croydon; Letter from Alex Borthwick, Oil and Colour Merchant, 281 George St, on unavailability of glass of required size.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
