The fine of £10 each at the Water Police Court was heavier than customary. The Police Act directed the fine be paid to the informant but by resolution of the Council it had been paid to the City Treasurer and credited to the City Fund. Council negatived the recommendation. Appended: Petition from O'Brine who had 3 times unsuccessfully attempted to get a license from the City Engineer who was absent on duty but nevertheless proceeded with blasting for stone for the filling in of Woolloomooloo Bay; Petition from Michael Mcguire who had let the quarry to O'Brine and had been unaware of any liability for O'Brine's actions; Letter from Wm Crane, Water Police Office Sydney, to Edward Bell requesting he call to receive £10 being due to him from the two fines for blasting.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYesBorn digital itemNo
