Appended: Petition from McLaughlin stating that at least 25% of fruit sales and nearly all butter, egg, bacon and cheese sales are now being made at yards other than the George St Markets. At least four other saleyards have also been established, such as that of Mr Thos Dawson. McLaughlin had bought the lease on the premise that all goods would come to the Markets. He included a full statement of his receipts and expenses. Memo from John Carruthers, Clerk of the Market, with details of loads brought to market for the year showing the decline in usage from 2668 in January to 1611 in September.
