John Rae, Commissioner for Railways, replying to the enquiry regarding the possibility of depositing street sweepings at some spot within the Railway Terminus. He reports that the Commissioners had already informed the contractor, Mr Johnston, of the terms upon which the street sweepings may be deposited and the rate at which it may be conveyed to Canterbury.
