G. Whiteside, Joshua Wauhop, Charles Harkness, Henry Everett et al. calling attention to the state of Macquarie Street. The petition is read to Council then forwarded to the Improvements Committee. Edward Bell, City Engineer, visits the locality and finds that the street has never been cut down and formed or proclaimed and the passage for foot passengers is no doubt highly dangerous. He recommends that three men should be employed for a few days to make a safer footway at a cost not exceeding £5. This work is subsequently performed.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
