He reports the number of births and deaths for each of the 3 months by gender. He also reports on Infant Mortality (under 5) by gender and its causes. The most prevalent cause of death was Scarlatina followed by Diarrhoea with Scarlatina prevalent in most parts of the city. Mortality was most prevalent in the areas where drainage is chiefly on the surface and sewage is discharged into the harbour and not properly carried away. Drainage where new buildings are being erected should be scrutinised closely with particular attention paid to ventilation.
