There is a notation by the City Engineer J Trevor Jones that this standpipe has been defective for a long time, and wastes water. He advises that there should be a permanent standpipe with hose attached and the stopcock in a box with a lock, with a key given to everyone entitled to use it, the cost being charged to the Government. £10 would cover the expense.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
