Officers of the Master Butchers Association. The 134th clause of the new Corporation Act inflicts a penalty upon any person keeping livestock upon premises within the City. Upon representations being made by the Master Butchers Association, the Parliament admitted clauses 138 and 139 which gives the Council power to licence places within the city where lambs and calves can be kept and slaughtered. Applications for licences have been made and no replies have been received. The petitioners had been led to believe by the Mayor that no penalties would be enforced, however officers have recently made inspections and summons have been issued for breaches of the Act.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
