The City Solicitor, on being asked to comment on these suggestions states after detailed and careful argument that: "the Council would be met with very serious difficulty in enforcing the By-Laws of 5th October 1893 and therefor that it will be inadvisable to approve of the suggestions of the City Building Surveyor as to the regulations thereunder". He goes on to state "there are several sections of the Sydney Corporation Act of 1879 giving power to Council to abate nuisances but it will be observed that before procedure under those sections can be taken it will be necessary to be clear that the matter complained of is actually a nuisance."LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
