They have received their account for one week's yards dues on pigs at the City Yards, which they paid under protest, as the inspector has charged them two days dues on 50 pigs which were not in the yards for one day, as they were put into the yards on Tuesday 5:00pm and sold on Wednesday before 2:00pm; the butchers can leave the pigs in the yards overnight and are not charged. They ask for a refund of 12/6d. Attached is a memo from Geo Weldon, Inspector: the two days yard dues is the same charge paid by other auctioneers when they put stock in the yards the day before the sale, and buyers are allowed the privilege to leave the stock in the yards till the following morningLanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
