Unique IDAG-0041DescriptionOn 1 January 1989 the existing Committees of Council were dissolved by the City of Sydney Act 1988. The first meeting of the newly elected Council was 3 January 1989, at which time this Committee was established. It is responsible for finance and budget, property and housing, plant purchases, subsidies and donations, the Town Hall and outer halls, and the parking stations. As a result of the Question Without Notice by Alderman Helen Robbie in 1989, a House Sub-Committee to report through the Finance Committee was established on 11 December 1989. In 1991, matters pertaining to human resources, later renamed Employee Services, were placed under its wing and CA 42, Industrial Relations Committee was abolished.
In 1993, Council decided to undertake a review of its Standing Committees and through a Resolution of Council of 28 June 1993, four standing committees and a special committee, namely: CA 142, Finance Committee IV, 1993+, CA 140, Cultural and City Services Committee, 1993+, CA 143, Planning Committee III, 1993+, CA 144, Projects and Public Spaces Committee, 1993+ and CA 141, Properties Committee, 1993-1995, a special committee of the whole, were created.
Under the new set-up, CA 142, Finance Committee, Properties and Tenders Committee, 1989+ took over the duties and functions of CA 41, Finance Committee III, 1989-1993, with additional functions taken from other standing committees.CreationResolution of Council, 3 January 1989AbolitionResolution of Council 28 June 1993
