The enclosed verandahs have wrought iron balconies and the high front wall is made of sandstone, bricks and rubble. A decorative cast iron gaslamp stands at the entrance to Playfair Stairs, down to Gloucester Street, on the left and a group of children stand in the centre picture with one sitting on the wall.
