The Hall & Co name is prominent on the facade and side wall, and there is an advertisement promoting Bargains in Smiles Sale. A crowd gathers at the front of the shop under a striped canvas blind. To the left is the Royal Chambers at 45 Hunter Street with advertising for W T Armstrong & Co auctioneers and property stock agents. At 43 Hunter Street is the Co-operative Motor Car Society, and at number 41 is Syne Sidney, a painter, decorator and signwriter. Beside this appears to be a driveway or laneway above which is signage for J. McLaughlin a plumber and gasfitter, and a wooden door with signage for E Atkins, roses, palms, fruit and oriental trees auction sales. On the right is the Union Bank of Australia Chambers at number 37 with a street directory board on its facade.
