Unique IDA-00433744SeriesCommittee Reports (Various committees), 1842-1899DateBetween 9th November 1857 and 23rd November 1857Date qualifierexactFormatVolume - Leather BoundDescriptionReport of the Special Committee on the Erection of a Town Hall on the land granted to the City for that purpose recommending commencement of arrangements for building, that the building be 'of a character calculated to afford every accommodation and convenience to the Members, Officers and Servants of the Council and likewise be useful for other public purposes, being at the same time an ornament to the important portion of the City', that the design be prepared by the City Engineer and the work and management be under his control, and that an Architectural Draftsman be appointed. The Committee appended a schedule of the rooms required in the building and suggested that the building's principal front be toward Bridge Street. In view of the abundant supply of labour, it was recommended that work be commenced as soon as possible.
