Unique IDA-00438142SeriesReports of the Finance Committee I [Municipal Council of Sydney]DateBetween 19th December 1861 and 18th August 1862FormatVolume - Leather BoundDescriptionReport of the By Laws Committee recommending the removal of a hackney carriage and cab-stand on the west side of Pitt Street between Hunter Street and Hutchinson Street and its replacement by two stands, one on the west side of Pitt Street between Hutchinson Street and Bridge Street for 12 carriages and cabs and the other on the north west side of Spring Street between Pitt and Gresham Streets for 8 carriages and cabs. Committee considered two petitions from residents, a petition from cab and carriage proprietors and a hearing of a deputation of seven gentlemen. Appended: Memo from Town Clerk to Committee; Petition from businesses in the locality of Pitt St north requesting the removal of the cab-stand with sketch map of current and proposed locations of the cab-stand and of the location of businesses of petitioners; Petition of householders in Pitt Street opposite the Oriental Bank and the Herald and Empire offices for removal of the stand; Petition of cab and carriage proprietors and some residents against removal of the stand.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
