Appended: Memo from Edward Bell, City Engineer, with report on the drainage in the vicinity of Steam Mill St from Barker's Gate to Barker St (not Barker St from Barker's Gate to Windmill St as in Council Resolution) noting that the southern end of Steam Mill St is in a very filthy state as 3 or 4 drains empty into it and into the adjoining waste ground; Steam Mill St and the lane between it and Bathurst St have sewage lying there; Bell recommends various pipe drains in the lane at the rear of the houses in Bathurst St, in Steam Mill St and Barker St, discharging into the harbour south of Russell's iron foundry; Annotation by Rd Driver, City Solicitor, that the cost proposed cannot legally be met by the City Fund.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
