Appended: Letter from Francis Graham, corner of Castlereagh and Campbell Sts, stating that a drain running under his house, which was constructed to carry off rain water from Lyons Terrace and elsewhere, has fallen in and made his house dangerous and previously repairs have been carried out by the City; annotation by Edward Bell, City Engineer, giving history of drain and one previous repair in time of Commissioners at the house next door, raising questions about the legal responsibility of the City and concluding that repair is urgent as house may collapse if there is another storm; further annotations with estimate and report that Donohue, the bricklayer, states he repaired the drain under Graham's house for the Commissioners; further estimate; annotation by Rd Driver, City Solicitor, stating that repairs could be paid from the City Fund as they involve street drainage only.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordNo
