William Pringle writes in defence of a contravention of the Building Act, with an encroachment onto the lane of a house being constructed in Burton Lane. He acknowledges the fault through ignorance, having used the deed, which described the land being bounded on the west by a lane 16 feet, as a guide and asks to be allowed to continue. The Building Surveyor did not serve him with a notice nor stop progress on the dwelling and has since found the lane to have been formed before the passing of the Act and he is therefore unable to prevent the building.LanguageEnglish (eng)Digitised recordYes
