(Note: Joseph Boyle the man who waters the part of George Street where the accident took place states that he had completed watering in front of Penfolds and had commenced to water in front of David Jones' and while making a sweep with the hose in a southerly direction Dr Bowker's coachman backed the horse which was previously standing and the horse in backing got on to the part previously watered, slipped, and fell on his knees: Boyle further states that the splash of water did not reach the horse within ten yeards. I see no reason to doubt Boyle's statement and have always found him very careful to avoid accident: THB; 3/3/75.
